SAT Hint #2: Don’t jump the gun….

One common error that students make on the math portion of the SATs is not answering the question asked; this can be the result of not attending to what the question is truly asking, not taking the final step in a multi-step problem, or not fully understanding the question. What makes this even trickier is that the writers of the SAT know that students make these silly mistakes, so you often see the incorrect (or incomplete) answer as one of the multiple choice options. Avoid this common mistake! Try this strategy: for every math question, underline what the problem asks you to solve. Then, after solving the problem, refer back to the underlined portion of the question to make sure that your solution matches what the test-makers asked you to solve.
