There’s more to the SAT than math, critical reading and writing….
Nov 26th, 2007 by Academics Plus Tutoring
Students preparing for the SAT often spend their time studying vocabulary, math, and grammar. They also work on improving their essays, as well as augmenting their reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. Why? Because these are all key components that contribute to SAT success. But most SAT preparation students already know this! What many SAT students might not realize is that there are a number of non-academic factors that also impact the SAT preparation process and, ultimately, how well students do on the day of the SAT.
A student’s performance on the day of the SAT is really a measure of a number of factors, including their concept knowledge, preparation, time management, and test-taking ability. Furthermore, his or her level of stress, anxiety, focus, motivation, and confidence can play a large role in how well he or she does. That’s why our SAT program includes an academic workbook and a personal workbook. The curriculum in the academic workbook helps students sharpen their math and verbal SAT skills, and the lessons in the personal workbook help students address the non-academic components that can hinder their SAT test performance.
The next 7 blogs will be excerpts from our book, The SAT Success System Personal Workbook, and will offer hints, strategies and tips to help students achieve their personal best on the SAT without experiencing the stress and anxiety that typically goes hand in hand with the SAT preparation process.
Our goal is to make this blog the most helpful and informative blog on Academic Success and SAT preparation. To do this, we need your help, so please give us your feedback and make comments to our blog!!
