SAT Test Day Tips

For those of you taking the December 1st SAT…here are some tips to help you do your best!
1. Get a good night’s sleep! Being well-rested can make the difference between a great SAT score and a mediocre SAT score. The SAT is a critical thinking exam, so you’ll need all your mental resources. Do not go out the night before, instead, read an hour or so before bedtime to relax so that you are able to drift off at a reasonable hour and get a full night’s sleep.
2. Bring the necessary materials. Bring acceptable photo ID, your calculator, fresh batteries, two No. 2 pencils, an eraser and your SAT admission ticket. Leave these items out in a convenient and available site the night before, so when you wake up in the morning, they are ready to go.
3. Don’t go hungry. Eating breakfast before you leave in the morning and bring snacks. A growling stomach will interfere with your ability to focus on the SAT. Keep in mind that although the SAT is a 3 hour and 45 minute ordeal, it is likely you will be at the SAT test center for 4 to 5 hours, so be prepared. A healthy breakfast and nutritious snacks can help keep you alert throughout the entire SAT exam.
4. Leave your home early. Give yourself extra traveling time just in case.
