The Enlightened SAT Warrior Learns How to Meditate, Chapter 1…
Dec 11th, 2007 by Academics Plus Tutoring
Welcome to the 6th of 7 blog entries from our book, The SAT Success System Personal Workbook. Stay tuned as we continually post entries from our book; each entry will offer tips, hints and strategies on how to achieve SAT success!!
We’ve mentioned in our previous blog posts that stress and anxiety are common obstacles to SAT success. We also mentioned that we would be sharing a meditation exercise that will help you keep your cool as you prepare for the SAT.
Here is the exercise: We know a few of you might chuckle as you read the exercise and in all likelihood, there is probably a percentage of folks who might think the exercise hokey… so for those of you hecklers, here’s a thought to ponder. Your mind is always focused on something – always – so why not keep it focused on thoughts that are aligned with your SAT goal?
Master the Art of Meditative Focus:
Set aside 3 minutes: Sit up straight in a comfortable chair. Loosen any clothing that may block air from entering your body fully and easily. Focus your mind on a supportive phrase and mentally repeat it internally over and over again.
Here are some supportive phrases you could potentially use: “I am making tremendous progress” or ”I am capable of all things I set my mind to.”
Take deep, diaphragmatic breaths, in and out, in and out. Do this process for three minutes.
Our goal is to make this blog the most helpful and informative blog on Academic Success and SAT preparation. To do this, we need your help, so please give us your feedback and make comments to our blog!!
