On the sixth day of Christmas break, my tutor gave to me, 10 SAT vocabulary words, 10 SAT vocabulary words, 10 SAT vocabulary words, 10 SAT vocabulary words, 10 SAT vocabulary words and 10 SAT vocabulary words…

For anyone who is signing on to our blog for the first time today, let me give you a little background on what we are doing.  For each of the 10 days of winter break (excluding weekends), we will post 10 new SAT vocabulary words for you to review.  We encourage you to study all the words over the holiday and add 100 SAT words to your vocabulary. Look back at the previous blogs for the introduction to this series and lists of words and check back tomorrow for a new set of words.  

Here is the sixth set of words:

Ø       Effulgence (n.): splendor; radiance

Ø       Fortitude (n.): strength of mind, typically to endure pain or adversity with courage

Ø       Cataclysm (n.): catastrophe; calamity; a huge destructive event

Ø       Embark (v.): to make a beginning; to set out to do something

Ø       Fraudulent (adj.): deceitful; dishonest

Ø       Emancipate (v.): to release from bondage

Ø       Bombast (n.): inflated or extravagant language, especially on unimportant subjects

Ø       Emanate (v.): to flow forth or proceed, as from some source

Ø       Emaciate (v.): to waste away; to cause extreme weight loss and weakness

Ø       Caustic (adj.): sarcastic; harsh and corrosive
