In case we’re not up to posting first thing in the morning New Year’s Day, here’s tomorrow’s post a little early. 

On the seventh day of Christmas break, my tutor gave to me, 10 SAT vocabulary words, 10 SAT vocabulary words, 10 SAT vocabulary words, 10 SAT vocabulary words, 10 SAT vocabulary words, 10 SAT vocabulary words and 10 SAT vocabulary words…

For anyone who is signing on to our blog for the first time today, let me give you a little background on what we are doing.  For each of the 10 days of winter break (excluding weekends), we will post 10 new SAT vocabulary words for you to review.  We encourage you to study all the words over the holiday and add 100 SAT words to your vocabulary. Look back at the previous blogs for the introduction to this series and lists of words and check back tomorrow for a new set of words.  

Here is the seventh set of words:

Ø       Eloquent (adj.): having the ability to express emotion or feeling in a fluent, elegant or persuasive manner

Ø       Formidable (adj.): difficult to accomplish; extremely impressive in strength or excellence

Ø       Honorarium (n.): a token fee or payment for services

Ø       Elusive (v.): difficult to describe or to grasp in the mind; skillful at evading capture

Ø       Fortify (v.): to strengthen; provide with nutrients

Ø       Castigate (v.): to punish; censure severely

Ø       Fragile (adj.): easily broken

Ø       Fracture (n.): a break

Ø       Elude (v.): to evade the search or pursuit of by dexterity or artifice

Ø       Elucidate (v.): to clarify; to make more comprehensible
