The 10 days of Christmas break… day 8!

On the eighth day of Christmas break, my tutor gave to me, 10 SAT vocabulary words, 10 SAT vocabulary words, 10 SAT vocabulary words, 10 SAT vocabulary words, 10 SAT vocabulary words, 10 SAT vocabulary words, 10 SAT vocabulary words and 10 SAT vocabulary words…
For anyone who is signing on to our blog for the first time today, let me give you a little background on what we are doing. For each of the 10 days of winter break (excluding weekends), we will post 10 new SAT vocabulary words for you to review. We encourage you to study all the words over the holiday and add 100 SAT words to your vocabulary. Look back at the previous blogs for the introduction to this series and lists of words and check back tomorrow for a new set of words.
Here is the 8th set of words:
Ø Dehydrate (v.): to deprive of water
Ø Hale (adj.): vigorous and healthy
Ø Elocution (n.): the art of correct intonation, inflection, and gesture in public speaking or reading
Ø Bolster (v.): to support or prop up
Ø Effusion (n.): an outpouring
Ø Candor (n.): frankness or sincerity
Ø Boorish (adj.): rude and clumsy
Ø Effervescent (adj.): bubbly; high-spirited, animated
Ø Tenacious (adj.): dogged; stubbornly unyielding
Ø Effrontery (n.): unblushing impudence; presumptuousness
Ø Effluvium (n.): a noxious or ill-smelling exhalation from decaying or putrefying matter
